MAYA singer/songwriter born in Melbourne in 1994 has now been working in the Australian music world for over 10 years. The 3rd generation musician started performing at 8 years old, improvising 12 bar blues on stage with her musician father. Her upbringing was influenced by legendary music icons Lauryn Hill, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin. Influencing a strong jazz/soul voice.
At age 18, MAYA was selected to be in the top 25 on The Voice Australia 2013 - an experience which taught the young performer a lot. Lessons which have paid off - In 2014 the passionate and inspired artist was picked up by local indie label, True Music. They have gone on to release MAYA’s first single, Sinners, in 2016, which had success across radio stations such as Triple J, Joy FM, The Push and Triple M. The Sinners video clip was also featured on MTV and various online publications.
MAYA’s bring-the-house-down vocals have seen her grace stages alongside international and local artists such as Sneaky Sound System, Way Of The Eagle, Big Words, Foreign Brothers, 30/70, Silent J, Allday, Kawasi, Sarah Debono, Caterina Torres, Jake Simpson, David Hernandez, Fatai and many other emerging artists around the world.
